We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer who can help prospective clients understand how technology and strategy come together to solve complex digital challenges. This role sits at the intersection of sales, technology, and delivery
, helping shape solutions for both new and existing clients.
Partner in the sales process
- Work closely with Sandstorm’s sales team on new business and expansion opportunities
- Participate in discovery sessions to understand client goals and technical requirements
- Present solutions during client meetings, demos, and proposal presentations
- Help position Sandstorm as a trusted digital partner
- Travel to and attend conferences, events and speaking sessions to generate leads
- Network within our industries (associations, nonprofit, higher ed, and healthcare)
- Contribute to thought leadership and marketing efforts
- Lead technical sales engagements from discovery through close
Design thoughtful technical solutions
- Translate client needs into clear technical approaches and architectures
- Help determine appropriate platforms and approaches, including Drupal, Word Press, and decoupled architectures
- Contribute to technical scoping and estimates for proposals and RFP responses
- Collaborate with delivery leadership to ensure proposed solutions are realistic and achievable
- Able to translate technical value for both business and technical audiences
- Build prototypes to demonstrate innovative ideas (through vibe coding, etc)
- Own the technical win:
Diagnose challenges and align solutions to customer needs - Partner with account teams to identify opportunities within existing clients
- Help shape recommendations for platform improvements, migrations, or new initiatives
- Provide AI consulting services (AI strategy, productivity opportunities, workflow, data/intelligence, etc.)
- Advise customers on best practices for AI adoption, web architecture, and technical solutions
- Act as a trusted advisor, shaping long‑term customer success
Bridge sales and delivery
- Provide architectural guidance during project kickoff and early phases of implementation
- Ensure continuity between what is sold and what is delivered
- 5+ years of experience in web development, architecture, or technical consulting
- Proven ability to drive technical wins and revenue in complex, consultative sales cycles
- Experience working in a digital agency or consulting environment
- Experience supporting technical scoping, RFP responses, or proposal development
- Strong communication skills with a desire to present to clients and prospects
- Entrepreneurial spirit with insatiable curiosity
- Self‑motivated lifelong learner
- Established track record of growing existing accounts and winning new business
- Value‑based selling experience over pure technical sales
- Collaborative approach with a passion for measurable outcomes
Technical experience with some combination of:
- CMS experience:
Drupal (preferred), Word Press, or Sitefinity - AI experimentation and consulting
- Headless or decoupled CMS architectures
- API integrations and modern web platforms
- Existing partner relationships (Pantheon, Acquia, WP Engine)
The expected starting salary for this position is $100,000 + base + commission ($150K-200K realistic for experienced candidates) annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
