Job Title
Technical Program Director, Governance Lead
LocationChicago, IL (Office in Chicago: 3 days per week in‑office. Hybrid policy allows remote work for candidates within commuting distance. If commuting distance cannot be met, not considered unless a legally required accommodation is provided.)
Key Responsibilities- Manage and prioritize governance requests to improve turnaround time, reduce backlog, and ensure timely support for rapidly evolving AI and technology initiatives.
- Establish consistent intake, review, tracking, escalation, and reporting processes across business governance requests.
- Shift governance left by engaging earlier in the product, use case, and development lifecycle to help teams understand requirements and apply controls proactively.
- Partner with Responsible AI, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Technology teams to align governance requirements and support timely decision‑making.
- Translate governance expectations, control requirements, and review outcomes into clear guidance for product and business teams.
- Identify recurring governance themes, bottlenecks, and process improvement opportunities to improve scalability and responsiveness.
- Support operating rhythms with product development teams to improve planning, transparency, and governance readiness.
- Prepare status updates, metrics, executive summaries, and decision materials to communicate demand, backlog, risks, and progress.
Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, and a minimum of 15 years of enterprise project management experience in broad‑based information systems managing increasingly large and complex transformational projects with full life‑cycle application development and/or building enterprise applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences- Experience with data and AI governance is strongly preferred.
- Experience leading governance, risk, compliance, Responsible AI, technology oversight, or technical program management functions strongly preferred.
- Experience working with product, engineering, business, legal, risk, compliance, and governance stakeholders in a complex enterprise environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of governance intake, triage, prioritization, control application, issue tracking, and operational reporting preferred.
- Experience supporting AI, data, digital, or technology initiatives through governance, risk, or compliance review processes preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to reduce backlog, improve turnaround time, and create scalable operating processes preferred.
- Experience shifting governance or risk processes earlier into product, delivery, or software development life cycles preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex governance requirements into practical guidance for business and technical teams preferred.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, influence without direct authority, and drive execution across cross‑functional teams preferred.
- Project management certification (PMP) strongly preferred.
Salary range for this position is $170,104 to $255,156.
