Overview
Executive Underwriter, Corporate Accounts – responsible for underwriting new and renewal Primary Casualty business across the Region, with a focus on Profit‑centered growth, client service and broker development.
Responsibilities- Underwrite and price new and renewal business in Workers Compensation, General Liability and Commercial Auto Liability.
- Assess the desirability of risk by identifying hazards and exposures, and determine appropriate loss‑sensitive (deductible/SIR) and guaranteed‑cost pricing.
- Provide high‑level customer service to brokers and clients, serving as a role model for junior underwriters.
- Mentor, train and support less‑experienced underwriters, especially on complex accounts and system workflows.
- Build and maintain broker relationships, expand networks, and represent AIG at internal and external meetings.
- Collaborate with home office, distribution, actuary, claims, loss control, premium audit, credit and legal teams to develop a profitable portfolio of primary accounts.
- Adhere to underwriting rules, guidelines and risk appetite while maintaining a consistent, proactive approach.
- Participate in business travel as required to support client relationships and business development.
- Minimum of 5 years experience underwriting Primary Casualty business.
- CPCU, ARM, or other relevant insurance designations are a plus.
- Proven expertise in both Loss‑Sensitive and Guaranteed‑Cost program structures.
- Experience as a mentor and key training resource for a team of underwriters.
- Established relationships with regional brokers handling Primary Casualty/Upper Middle Market business.
- Strong communication, networking and relationship‑building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities; able to handle multiple tasks concurrently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Customer‑ and sales‑oriented behaviors: motivated, proactive, accountable, technically skilled and focused.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, communication and business‑development skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with actuarial data and pricing models.
- Demonstrated ability to generate profitable new business.
