Senior Counsel

Responsibilities

• Advising senior management and field personnel on general legal and regulatory issues in the following areas: liens and personal property security, commercial transactions, tax, insurance, employment, import‑export, trade, real property, construction, privacy, securities.
• Advising on and leading negotiation and completion of major business acquisitions and key partnering initiatives, including preparation of key commercial agreements.
• Assume lead role managing teams and projects having a significant legal component.
• Providing front‑line operational guidance to executives, regional managers and sales personnel and providing legal support to field personnel in negotiation of major consignments, sales transactions and credit arrangements.
• Resolving commercial and other disputes, managing litigation and negotiating legal settlements.
• Provide in‑house training to new sales personnel and managers on legal and operational matters.
• Managing and overseeing the development of the Legal team.

• At least 3‑5 years’ experience in private practice followed by at least 4‑5 years’ experience as in‑house counsel with a public company having multinational business exposure.
• In‑depth experience with personal property security laws.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, solid judgment and a 'results‑focused' business mind.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills essential.
• Ability to travel worldwide throughout North America and internationally from time to time.
• Office and/or remote work environment. This is a hybrid role (3 days a week in office) based out of our Westchester, IL corporate headquarters.
