Role Description

This full-time Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney role (1-3 years of experience) is a hybrid position based in Atlanta, GA, with a mix of in-office and work-from-home flexibility. The attorney will manage a caseload of workers' compensation matters, including claim evaluation, discovery, motion practice, and court and administrative hearings. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings, briefs, and correspondence; conducting legal research; and providing strategic advice to employers, insurers, and third-party administrators.

The role involves regular client communication, participation in mediation and settlement negotiations, and collaboration with colleagues and staff to deliver timely, high-quality legal services. The attorney may also assist with client trainings, seminars, and updates that support proactive claims management and risk mitigation.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in workers' compensation law and related civil litigation, with 1-3 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Skills in Insurance, Claims Handling, and Claims Management to effectively analyze files, assess exposure, and guide defense strategy.
  • Understanding of Employee Benefits and related employment issues to advise clients on broader risk and compliance considerations.
  • Customer Service skills, including responsiveness, clear communication, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy abilities, including drafting motions, briefs, and negotiation communications.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Georgia Bar (or eligibility for admission in a timely manner).
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a hybrid environment, manage multiple deadlines, and use case management and office technologies effectively.
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a commitment to professionalism and continuous learning.
