Lawyers and consultants within the Ontra Legal Network (OLN) leverage their legal expertise and business acumen to support Ontra’s customers while pursuing their own career objectives and personal goals. Ontra provides lawyers with opportunities to supplement and grow their existing private practice or kick-start a new one. Ontra aims to connect lawyers with potential client engagement opportunities that suit their experience and the customer’s requirements, with dedicated support from Ontra along the way.

• Review and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts across multiple customers, ensuring adherence to the customer playbook, fast turnaround times, and best-in-class service to meet client needs
• Consistently learn and evolve to new technologies and features within Ontra’s software that help reduce contract turnaround time and drive efficiencies in the contract review and negotiation process
• Directly engage with in-house legal teams at financial services companies and serve as their trusted legal advisor for their contract negotiations
• Operate within Ontra’s software throughout the negotiating process, enabling clients to receive data-driven solutions for their document processing needs and remain informed every step of the way

• Qualifications :
  Ideally admitted in Japan but not a requirement if admitted in another jurisdiction with substantial experience practicing in Japan;
  Independent professional indemnity insurance is preferred but not essential.

• Languages: Fluent in English and Japanese; able to draft, negotiate and liaise in Japanese.

• Legal background :
  Thorough understanding or experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, like NDAs and engagement letters; experience working with Asset Management, Investment Banking, or other Financial Services clientele is a plus.

• Entrepreneurial :
  Demonstrates a business-savvy and client-centric approach to legal work; motivated to build a long-term relationship with Ontra.

• Tech savvy: Possesses a willingness and aptitude to learn and evolve to new technologies and features within Ontra’s software.
