The Director, U.S. Violence Prevention & Safety Practice is the senior leader accountable for the performance, expansion, and external standing of Moonshot’s U.S. portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director leads all U.S. project delivery for the online violence prevention and safety practices and sets the strategic and operational direction of these practices. They establish and enforce a high bar for excellence—ensuring that Moonshot’s programs deliver measurable impact, meet contractual and financial commitments, operate with rigor and discipline, and consistently position the organization for renewal and sustained growth.

In addition to portfolio oversight, the Director strengthens and formalizes delivery standards across the U.S., codifies best practices, implements consistent project management systems, trains managers on shared expectations, and drives continuous improvement in operational performance. The Director also drives revenue expansion for the U.S. practice, originating and shaping new opportunities, cultivating senior‑level relationships across the homeland security and violence prevention ecosystem, representing Moonshot in public and professional forums, and converting practitioner credibility into awarded work.

Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Performance & Delivery Excellence:
    Lead and oversee all U.S. projects within the online Violence Prevention & Safety practices, ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, maintain accountability for measurable impact, contractual performance, and client satisfaction, serve as the senior escalation point for client concerns, mitigate risk before issues reach executive leadership, establish and enforce consistent performance expectations across projects and teams, and monitor renewal readiness to strengthen Moonshot’s long‑term position.
  • Practice Standardization & Operational Infrastructure:
    Codify and formalize delivery standards, implement consistent project management methodologies, reporting structures, and quality control mechanisms, strengthen contract compliance monitoring and financial discipline across engagements, train senior managers and project leaders on shared delivery standards and expectations, identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and operational efficiency, and build durable infrastructure that reduces variability in execution and enables scalable growth.
  • Financial & Contractual Stewardship:
    Oversee budget management and margin performance across the U.S. portfolio, ensure compliance with contractual requirements and reporting obligations, align staffing models and resource allocation with revenue forecasts and delivery demands, and partner with internal finance and operations teams to maintain disciplined financial oversight.
  • Business Development & Revenue Expansion:
    Partner with the Chief Strategy Officer and founders to drive growth of the U.S. practice, originate and shape new opportunities within state, local, and federal markets, cultivate and maintain senior‑level relationships across the homeland security and violence prevention ecosystem, contribute to capture strategy, proposal development, and competitive positioning, represent Moonshot at conferences, client meetings, and professional forums to strengthen market presence, and convert practitioner credibility and trusted relationships into awarded contracts.
  • Practice Leadership & Team Development:
    Supervise senior managers overseeing U.S. engagements and ensure clear accountability structures, build leadership capacity within the practice through mentorship, coaching, and performance management, clarify roles, escalation pathways, and decision rights within the U.S. portfolio, foster a culture of operational rigor, continuous improvement, and professional excellence, and align delivery capacity with strategic growth priorities set by the Chief Strategy Officer.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of professional experience within homeland security, counter terrorism, public safety, violence prevention, or closely related fields.
