Senior Project Manager - Federal Construction
AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee multiple federal construction contracts within the Program Management Business Line for the East Region. This role is accountable for overall project execution, financial performance, staffing strategy, and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will function as both a project leader and people manager, ensuring projects are appropriately staffed, effectively managed within Work Bench, and delivered in accordance with contract requirements, schedule commitments, and margin targets.
This position is integral to maintaining project profitability while ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality services across multiple federal programs. While this is a remote position, some travel may be required for site visits, client meetings, trainings, and conferences.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead multiple concurrent federal construction contracts from project initiation through closeout.
- Oversee project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality compliance.
- Ensure accurate, timely maintenance of all project data within Work Bench.
- Monitor project financials, forecasts, and deliverables to ensure alignment with contractual and corporate requirements.
- Serve as the primary people manager for assigned project staff.
- Ensure projects are appropriately staffed with the required technical expertise and labor categories.
- Coordinate staffing plans with operations and resource management teams.
- Proactively adjust staffing levels to support project performance and protect margins.
- Support hiring decisions and personnel assignments based on project needs and workload demands.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with federal contract requirements, including USACE and other agency standards.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and performance discussions.
- Track project budgets, labor utilization, and profitability across assigned contracts.
- Identify risks to margin and implement corrective actions related to staffing or execution strategies.
- Ensure efficient resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for assigned staff.
- Foster a high-performing, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
- Support staff development and training aligned with both project and organizational objectives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Project Management Construction Management, Science, or a related field, plus 8 years of relevant experience; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects and teams.
- Strong understanding of project financial management, staffing models, and labor utilization.
- Experience with project management systems such as Work Bench or similar platforms.
- Prior experience supporting USACE or other federal agencies.
- Strong background in construction operations, QA/QC, or project controls.
- Familiarity with federal contracting requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
