Description

Senior Associate Vice President, Community Planning Initiatives at Jewish United Fund (JUF) leads and directs the implementation of a 10-year community initiative plan, aligning execution with fundraising and collaborating across internal teams and external partners. This is a 2-year term position with potential extension contingent on funding.

Location:

Chicago, IL (Hybrid). Salary range: $150,000-$165,000.

What you’ll do
  • Overall Project Management
    • Oversee day-to-day project management for the initiative, including execution, timeline management, and delivery of milestones and goals.
    • Direct cross-departmental teams to develop 10-year work plans for new initiatives, refining recommendations, defining goals, and identifying resources and research needed for implementation.
    • Track progress and outcomes with Evaluation colleagues against implementation plans.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Associate VP, Strategic Philanthropy to develop and implement the overall project timeline for funding availability per initiative.
    • Maintain a central project information repository for content, data, and meeting documentation.
    • Manage contracts with outside contractors or contributors.
  • Internal stakeholder management (JUF)
    • Lead internal project management with senior leaders across departments to identify workplans, ensure alignment, manage communications, and meet deadlines.
    • Prepare regular progress updates for JUF senior professionals and volunteer leaders; support progress discussions toward goals.
    • Partner to develop and disseminate project impact reports and track funding and budgeting against projections; communicate status to stakeholders.
    • Support development and execution of internal and external communications plans; collaborate on stakeholder updates, talking points, and marketing content.
  • External stakeholders (funders, community partners, committees)
    • Co-lead integrated working teams with internal and external partners to develop 10-year work plans.
    • Serve as a primary contact for community-based organizations and external collaborators.
    • Provide project status updates during weekly Working Team meetings and quarterly Steering Committee meetings; may occur offsite.
    • Track and manage next steps across JUF-led initiatives with external partners to maintain momentum.
    • Partner with the Project Steering Committee to develop a rollout plan for external audiences.
What you need to succeed
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in project management or related fields; minimum 15 years’ professional experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, multi-year strategic initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience developing and implementing complex workplans with milestones and accountability
  • Experience managing project budgets and expenditures
  • Previous work experience in the Jewish community preferred
  • Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, heritage, traditions, and Jewish communal services preferred
  • Experience preparing and facilitating executive-level presentations and progress reports
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills with strong relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Use discretion and independent judgement in performing all aspects of the position
  • PMP certification preferred

Our Hybrid Schedule

We offer a hybrid work policy with in-person work at 30 South Wells Street, Chicago on Tue–Thu; work-from-home on Mondays and Fridays. The standard work week is 36.5 hours, with hours 8:30am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday and 8:30am–4:00pm Friday; 1-hour lunch break.
