General Summary
The Vice President of Field Marketing and Communications will set goals and strategy, align resources and coach field staff through implementing key initiatives to maximize Alzheimer’s Association Community marketing and communications efforts and ensure delivery of strategic goals. The person in this role will work closely with Home Office leadership and cross‑pillar staff, as well as field leadership and marketing‑communications staff to
1) research and identify key gap areas and opportunities to increase efficiency and impact,
2) lead development of campaigns, programs and resources to address these gaps and opportunities and
3) roll out and track success of implementation nationwide. The Vice President will develop long‑term and short‑term marketing and communications strategies, problem‑solve day‑to‑day needs, work cross‑departmentally and manage internal and external stakeholders to build momentum and accelerate results.
- Regular interface with senior leadership for strategic planning and management of field goals and needs
- Partners with all internal leaders and strategic marketing and communications experts to support mission delivery in communities
- Drives communication and connectivity between home office and field leadership and marketing and communications staff
- Analyze enterprise‑wide data to inform strategic recommendations for field execution
- Lead and manage territory marketing meetings comprised of field and home office marketing/communications staff
- Identifies and implements opportunities for chapter marketing growth and capacity building
- Identifies and implements opportunities for strategic marketing collaboration and partnerships across chapters and with home office marketing and communications teams
- Working with field marketing leaders to create plans that enable field staff and volunteers to maximize community marketing through effective volunteer recruitment and engagement and developing onboarding programs for both staff and volunteers
- Drives the strategy and execution of a volunteer field marketing and communications model
- Provides input in messaging, toolkits and leads trainings in support of nationwide field marketing and communications activities
- Surfaces, scales and disseminates best practices from the field
- Develops and enforces policies that support the integrity of the Alzheimer’s Association brand throughout the Chapter network
- Responds to and problem‑solves Chapter‑level strategic, tactical and staffing challenges
- Fosters communication between chapters and home office staff
- Encourages marketing/communications best practices nationwide
- Lead crisis communications in local markets as necessary
- Participate in hiring of any marketing communications field lead positions
- Lead onboarding for marketing communications staff, as well as Chapter Executives as necessary
- Serves as a resource to field leadership
- Works with leadership to set and hold field marketing accountable for strategic goals and monitors, measures, evaluates and reports performance
Duties & Responsibilities
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with chapter staff and volunteers
- Leads in an innovative, customer‑focused environment
- Develops and delivers project updates and presentations for various audiences
- Works with staff to ensure all business activity needs are met
- Manages stakeholder relationships with all internal and external parties
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field
- 15+ years of combined, progressive experience leading marketing/communications efforts at both the local and national level, including:
- leading advertising campaigns
- implementing social marketing promotions
- developing relationships with reporters and editors
- consumer marketing implementation
- project management
- strategic planning
- Excellent creative problem solving, communications, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and motivate, especially with staff in matrix reporting relationships and influence without direct authority
- High degree of computer literacy
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including some overnight travel
