RN Nurse
Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a registered nurse for a 100% administrative/phone position in the ambulatory or ophthalmology department.
The role requires a minimum of 2 years of RN practice and is not patient‑facing. Shift cover: 5 8‑hour days or 4 10‑hour days, with no weekends or holidays. After 6 months of successful performance, the nurse may work from home 1–2 days per week.
Job Duties- Performs nursing assessments using various assessment methods and area‑specific tools.
- Develops or individualizes existing plans of care and sets goals relative to family needs; evaluates and documents changes to the plan.
- Develops or individualizes teaching plans/protocols to meet patient and family learning needs; identifies patient preferences and motivation; evaluates and documents changes.
- Performs nursing care according to procedures and protocols; anticipates emergent situations and intervenes effectively.
- Communicates with family and multidisciplinary team to identify health‑care needs, provide status updates, and utilize appropriate resources for referral or consultation.
- Keeps nursing practice current by using up‑to‑date literature for information and problem solving.
- Incorporates hospital and departmental quality initiatives into daily activities.
- Adheres to communication, service excellence, and professional image standards that support the hospital mission and philosophy.
- Works cooperatively as a team member to achieve unit and hospital goals.
- Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance nursing practice.
- Performs job functions with a customer‑service focus on innovation, excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care to patients, families, coworkers and others.
- Demonstrates knowledge of protocols related to chemical disinfection, high‑level disinfection, and sterilization as required by the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher (BSN). Positions defined as difficult to fill may accept an Associate’s degree in nursing with equivalent experience.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- Effective communication with patients/families, physicians, and hospital staff.
- Special certifications may be required by the department.
Lurie Children’s offers a comprehensive rewards package and a competitive pay range of $36.00–$59.40 per hour. The position is paid on an hourly basis.
