Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Staff Representative – Quality Assurance
, Off-Wing Surveillance, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our maintenance and engineering operations meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
In this role, you'll conduct audits and investigations that support United's Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) in accordance with 14 CFR Part 121.373. You'll partner with internal teams, external maintenance providers, and regulatory agencies to identify risks, drive corrective actions, and continuously improve operational performance across Technical Operations.
This position offers the opportunity to influence safety on a global scale while working alongside industry experts.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct operational audits, surveillance activities, and investigations across Technical Operations and external maintenance providers
- Evaluate compliance with FAA regulations, United policies, and quality standards
- Perform risk assessments and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and operational performance
- Analyze findings, prepare audit reports, and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Validate root cause analyses and monitor corrective action effectiveness
- Support United's Safety Management System (SMS) by identifying hazards and mitigating regulatory and operational risks
- Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Aircraft Records, Vendor Management, and other technical organizations to resolve quality concerns
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership and provide regulatory guidance to the CASS Review Board
- Represent United during FAA interactions and industry meetings as needed
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects assigned by Quality Assurance leadership
Note: This is a remote position with a 50% travel requirement. While the role is fully remote, we prefer candidates based near one of our hub locations:
San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Newark, Houston, or Washington D.C. (IAD)
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work or military experience
- Two or more years of aviation experience, preferably in aircraft maintenance, inspection, engineering, or quality assurance
- Working knowledge of applicable FAA regulations and company maintenance programs
- Familiarity with engineering documents including CMMs, AMMs, IPCs, WDMs, and technical drawings
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn company systems
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
