• Participate in training to become familiar with research on near‑death experiences and current research protocols.
• Assist in qualitative coding of narratives.
• Assist in creating online surveys.
• Obtain and maintain passing status on the UVA Institutional Review Board for the Social and Behavioral Sciences CITI training in research ethics.

• Current UVA student eligible for federal work‑study.
• Experience or academic background in the sciences, psychology, sociology, neuroscience, or related field.
• Knowledge of research methods and experimental or social science design.
• Interest in research concerning consciousness.
• Rigorous attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and/or research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills (plus).
• Basic software proficiency (Microsoft Office, Adobe).

• Experience using data software such as SPSS or SAS.
• Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics.
• Coursework in psychology, sociology, neuroscience, or a related field.

This role is primarily sedentary, involving extensive use of a desktop computer. Occasional travel to attend meetings may be required.

On‑site at UVA’s Division of Perceptual Studies offices in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia (210 10th St. NE, Suite 100). Remote work is optional or possible.
