Education Job Listings Compensation & BenefitsThe Department of Environmental Sciences at Emory University seeks an independent and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a NASA-supported project: "Forecasting Mosquito-Borne Disease Risk in a Changing Climate:
Integrating GLOBE Citizen Science and NASA Earth System Modeling."
- Develop a framework for integrating citizen science data (GLOBE Program) with NASA Earth observations
- Model and predict mosquito habitats and disease risks under various climate scenarios
- Develop and implement data fusion approaches using NASA satellite observations and GLOBE datasets
- Address data heterogeneity, quality, and computational challenges; employ data quality assurance and high-performance computing
- Contribute to spatial downscaling of NASA observations using statistical and deep learning methods
- Construct AI-driven models for mosquito habitat mapping with diverse climate change scenarios
- Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (required before employment)
- Strong knowledge of deep learning methods for spatial downscaling, data assimilation, and data fusion
- Familiarity with species habitat modeling
- Understanding of climate change scenarios for habitat mapping models
- Work is generally performed on-campus; some remote work options may be granted at department discretion
- Appointments are temporary, initial term one year, renewable if progress is satisfactory and funding is available (maximum 5 years)
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., Sc.D., D.V.M., DDS, or equivalent) in an appropriate field
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
