STAFF is partnering with a leading manufacturer in the steel and construction reinforcement industry to recruit an Area Sales Manager for the Great Lakes territory. Reporting to regional sales leadership, the Area Sales Manager will own business development and account management across the territory, driving growth in transportation, private development, commercial, and infrastructure construction markets. The role is home-based with 25–50% regional travel.
Strong communication, organizational discipline, and self-starter motivation are essential.
- Lead sales and business development for the Great Lakes territory: build and execute a regional sales plan
- Develop, qualify, and close opportunities in transportation, private development, commercial, and infrastructure construction markets
- Implement bid strategies and act as primary point of contact between engineering teams and customers
- Conduct customer visits, business reviews, and industry conferences; maintain prospect lists, quote logs, and call reports
- Build relationships with engineering firms, contractors, project owners, and key decision-makers
- Monitor regional market trends and competitive activity; report findings and recommend strategic adjustments
- Minimum 2 years of B2B sales experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy civil, bridge, or concrete construction projects
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and construction industry experience
- Ability and willingness to travel 25–50% within the Great Lakes territory
- Must be able to complete pre-placement requirements
- 6+ years of progressive B2B sales experience
- Sales experience selling to engineering firms, general contractors, or project owners in the construction industry
- Experience with bid strategies and technical product sales
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and pipeline management tools
