Job Summary
We’re building a relationship‑oriented bank for the modern world and are seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) for CIBC US Asset‑Based Lending. The BDM will identify, develop, and assist in closing high‑quality asset‑based lending transactions, enhancing CIBC’s presence across commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, and commercial real estate by engaging with third‑party financial intermediaries, internal referrals, and direct calls to middle‑market prospects.
Responsibilities- Prospect new ABL clients; acquire strategic relationships and meet new business generation goals.
- Lead client engagement, assess prospective relationships, and maintain an accurate pipeline in the CRM.
- Support deal structuring, act as strategic advisor, and develop profitable centers of influence.
- Collaborate with commercial bankers and portfolio managers to deliver ABL solutions and maintain client communication throughout fulfillment.
- Provide guidance on credit events, assist in deal negotiation, and support portfolio managers as needed.
- Minimum 10 years of ABL experience.
- Minimum 5 years of successful business development for a commercial or ABL lender with focus on quality centers of influence.
- In‑depth understanding of the asset‑based lending industry and competition.
- Strong referral source network and consistent calling record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online prospecting tools (Rel Pro, Salesforce, Pitchbook, Loan Connector, etc.).
- Self‑starter capable of working from home and possessing excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Extensive travel as required for territory coverage.
