Exadata Database Machine Architect

Location:

Remote (anywhere in USA)

• Workload Modeling:
  Deciding whether to use HC (High Capacity) or EF (Extreme Flash) storage servers.
• Smart Scan Optimization:
  Monitoring Storage Cells to ensure queries are being offloaded effectively.
• Recovery Window Strategy:
  Calculating the "Reserved Space" required to meet a client’s Recovery Time Objective (RTO).
• Real‑Time Redo Transport:
  Planning the network path for databases to send redo logs directly to the ZDLRA with zero data loss.
• Cell Administration:
  Using cellcli to manage physical disks, grid disks, and flash cache.
• Exachk Execution:
  Running the exachk utility regularly to ensure the configuration meets Oracle’s "Best Practices" and identifying security vulnerabilities.
• RoCE/Infini Band Management:
  Monitoring the internal high‑speed switches that allow the database nodes to talk to storage nodes with near‑zero latency.
• Virtual IP Management:
  Configuring Client, Management, and Backup networks to ensure traffic is segregated and redundant.
• ZDLRA/ZFS Integration:
  Ensuring the Exadata rack is correctly sending backups to the Recovery Appliance or ZFS storage via the dedicated backup network.
• Strategic thinking, complex problem‑solving, and executive‑level communication.

• Exadata Architecture and Management – 10 years experience, basic knowledge.
• ZFS design and Usability – 6 years experience, basic knowledge.
• ZDLRA recovery appliance – 6 years experience, basic knowledge.
• Oracle Key Vault – 4 years experience, basic knowledge; medium/experts possible.
• Bare Metal restore – 5 years experience, basic knowledge.
• Complex problem‑solving, and executive‑level communication – 10 years experience, basic knowledge.

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 and $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
