Software Engineering Intern - Margins

About this role

Apex Fintech Solutions is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to work on our high‑volume, high‑availability trade clearing suite. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the Margins system, part of the Apex Ascend platform, by writing secure and reliable gRPC and REST APIs and working with Postgre

SQL databases. Your role will involve collaborating with experienced engineers to add new features and enhance system support while gaining real‑world experience with modern, scalable software solutions.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
• Learn from and apply design techniques and coding standards coached by Senior Engineers.
• Build resilient, self‑scaling, self‑healing services.
• Support the production systems you build, including build, deployment (CI/CD), and monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, Pager Duty).
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code.
• Maintain high code‑quality standards across the team via code reviews.

• Currently pursuing a BA, BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field.
• Experience with SQL & Java (0–2+ years as a software developer or related role).
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Financial services background is a plus.

• Demonstrated passion for software engineering through internships, projects, or publications.
• Familiarity with common design pattern applications.
• Interest in both backend and full‑stack software development.
• Previous knowledge of financial markets or strong interest in learning them.

Salary Range: $0–$50,000 (annual base salary range; actual compensation may vary based on experience and location).
