What you'll be doingTechnology at CIBC is focused on building secure, reliable, and innovative solutions that support our clients and the business. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will contribute to hands‑on assignments that support the development and enhancement of software applications across the organization. You will help develop, code, test, and debug end‑to‑end solutions, while participating in technical design, development, and integration activities across platforms.
You will collaborate with technology and business partners to identify issues, ask thoughtful questions, and support effective solutions in a fast‑paced environment. Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to banking products, services, regulatory requirements, and CIBC's core systems and processes. You will also complete training, apply your learning in daily work, and build your technical, analytical, and communication skills through mentorship and development opportunities.

- Contribute to the development, coding, testing, and debugging of applications and system enhancements across the software development life cycle. - Technical collaboration

You are pursuing a relevant degree. You are currently a junior or senior enrolled in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027. You have foundational technical knowledge. You bring an understanding of the software development life cycle, databases such as Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL), batch processing, and file transfer and network security concepts such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), and firewalls.
You have experience with programming languages such as Python, and you are comfortable learning new tools and technologies. You stay open to new technologies and trends, and knowledge of artificial intelligence or security tools and concepts is considered an asset. You are a strong collaborator. You communicate clearly, build positive relationships, and work effectively with teammates and partners in a dynamic environment.

This role has an expected hourly rate of $36 - $40 per hour for the State of Illinois market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
