Position Summary
Responsible for performing a wide variety of routine cleaning duties to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.
Responsibilities- Keep offices and plant facilities clean and orderly.
- Use brooms, vacuums, waxers, burnishers, powered equipment, and mops to clean floors.
- Pick up and dispose of trash and litter in compactor and other trash receptacles.
- Use rags, sponges and brushes to clean furniture and fixtures.
- Wash walls and other surfaces.
- Collect and crush cardboard and fiber board drums; utilize bailer to contain trash materials.
- Maintain routine log books and work description charts.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety procedures and MSDS guidelines on chemicals used in cleaning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Three to six months of prior janitorial experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of cleaning activities, use of power and manual tools, and cleaning chemicals within 90 days of hire.
- Read English sufficiently to understand operating procedures, label instructions, and MSDS sheets.
- Speak English to communicate with supervisors and co‑workers and receive/follow verbal instructions.
- Write basic English to maintain cleaning logs and work description charts.
- Stand/walk and perform physical labor for a full working shift.
- Pull, push, squat, etc., to accomplish thorough cleaning.
- Perform repetitive job duties for much of the time.
- Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds.
- Work setting varies from clean, climate–controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas.
- May include intermittent exposure to noise levels loud enough to require hearing protection and to warm temperatures, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., causing minor discomfort.
- Employee required to wear safety glasses, a uniform, hairnet, steel‑toed shoes, dust mask, protective gloves, and plastic aprons as necessary.
- Exposure to disagreeable elements is negligible.
The incumbent must perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory ResponsibilityNone.
Compensation and Benefits- Salary range: $40,000.00 – $66,000.00, based on location, education, experience, and job‑related skills.
- Total rewards package may include annual performance bonus, medical, dental and vision benefits, 401(k) match, and wellness benefits.
- Non‑exempt employees receive overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law; overtime may be required by management based on business necessity.
