Sanitation Technician

Position Summary

Responsible for performing a wide variety of routine cleaning duties to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.

• Keeps offices and plant facilities clean and orderly.
• Using brooms, vacuums, waxers, burnishers, powered equipment and mops to clean floors.
• Picking up and disposing of trash and litter in compactor and other trash receptacles.
• Using rags, sponges and brushes to clean furniture and fixtures.
• Washing walls and other surfaces.
• Collects and crushes cardboard and fiber board drums; utilizes bailer to contain trash materials.
• Maintains routine log books and work description charts.
• Performs all duties in accordance with safety procedures; understands and follows MSDS guidelines on chemicals used in cleaning.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Certification: None.
• Experience: Three to six months prior janitorial experience preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of cleaning activities, use of power and manual tools, and cleaning chemicals within 90 days of hire. Ability to read, speak, and write basic English to communicate and maintain logs.

• Stand/walk and perform physical labor for a full working shift.
• Pull, push, squat, etc. to accomplish thorough cleaning.
• Perform repetitive job duties for much of the time.
• Intermittently lift loads up to 50 pounds.
• May work in warm temperatures, noise, fumes, vibration, dust; wear safety glasses, a uniform, hairnet, steel-toed shoes, dust mask, protective gloves, plastic aprons as required.

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

Salary range: $40,000.00 – $66,000.00. Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors including geographic location, education, experience, qualifications and job‑related skills. The total compensation package may include an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) match, and other wellness benefits.
