Reports to:

Principal or Designee

Job Goal:
To assist in providing excellent custodial services to ensure a clean, safe, well maintained, comfortable and efficient educational and work environments for students and personnel

Qualifications:

  • Holds a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provides services to ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work/learning environment
  • Demonstrates a sound working knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Demonstrates skill, safety, and knowledge when operating equipment
  • Uses proper safety equipment as appropriate when performing maintenance duties
  • Stores, uses, and disposes of chemicals, cleaners, and products efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and instructions
  • Delivers supplies to offices and classrooms as requested
  • Cleans assigned areas thoroughly following standards for disinfecting and sanitizing
  • Cleans rooms including, but not limited to furniture, boards, floors, and equipment using cleaning solutions, chemicals, and disinfectants
  • Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; replenishes soap, tissues, and towels
  • Sweeps, mops, waxes, and buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; dust and cleans windows, walls, hallways, elevators, stairs, closets, shelves, storage or other designated areas including building entrances and exits
  • Empties waste containers, replaces liners, and removes trash and debris from grounds
  • Moves, sets up, re­‐arranges, or removes furniture as directed
  • Assists in regular, routine inspection of buildings and grounds for safety hazards, repairs, or service and reports needs or solves issues according to established school system procedures
  • Maintains and reports inventory of materials and supplies as needed
  • Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner
  • Cooperates/collaborates with others as an effective team member in maintaining high standards in the maintenance program
  • Exhibits an understanding of being a public employee and serving the public
  • Is prompt, punctual, dependable, and efficiently uses time
  • Follows written and verbal instructions/communicates effectively
  • Engages in required orientations, training, safety instruction, and meetings as required for effective job performance
  • Maintains ethical standards and confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law
  • Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel
  • Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner
  • Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary
  • Demonstrates physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities and essential functions
  • Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system
  • Supports and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)

Terms of Employment/Salary: 12 month (240 Days) / 8-Hours / Non-Exempt / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix and experience.

Evaluation:
Performance to be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
