Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Overview
The City of Champaign offers the opportunity for a Mechanic to join its Public Works Department. In this role, you will perform skilled and routine tasks involved in the repair and maintenance of automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment. Assembling and fabricating automotive components and systems, troubleshooting and making repairs to engines, and adjusting hydraulic systems on trucks and tractors are just a few examples of the variety of work you’ll engage in.
The beginning hourly salary is $20.49 with generous benefits and a standard work week of Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. Applications must be submitted online by Tuesday, February 12, 2008.

This position is covered under the City of Champaign AFSCME Bargaining Unit labor agreement. AFSCME employees receive paid sick leave, personal leave, vacation, and 10 City holidays per year.
