Role Overview

Hardware Discipline Technician located in Orange, TX. Provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.
  • Calibrates and aligns equipment.
  • Completes preventative maintenance activities.
  • Checks sizing of components and parts.
  • Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.
  • Coordinates maintenance spare parts.
  • Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
  • Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures and repairs all types of controls and instruments with pneumatic, electrical, and electronic variables.
  • Repairs, maintains and installs equipment and machinery used in the process.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.
  • Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
  • Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma OR GED equivalent.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in a Chemical, Oil and Gas, or Manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
  • Ability to work a full shift, work overtime and holidays as needed and work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

    Ability to resolve deviations and problems within the process.

    Effective communication to resolve process issues and act as a resource for other operators and technicians.
  • Detail Oriented:
    Ability to identify equipment requiring maintenance, clear and tag equipment, and issue Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work.
  • Time Management:
    Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Teamwork and Leadership:
    Demonstrating leadership skills, inspiring others, and working independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.
Physical Demands
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, and twist.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs, scaffolding, and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed spaces.
  • Work in an area of intense or continuous noise.
  • Work in an area with hazardous materials.
  • Work high off the ground.
  • Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300 lbs.
