POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the ESD Facilities Coordinator, the Lead Facilities Technician serves as an operational project lead, mentoring and providing technical training to ESD Custodial and Maintenance staff. The role focuses on executing field-level projects, work orders, safety compliance tasks, and assisting with custodial, maintenance, and grounds operations to ensure all ESD facilities are kept in a clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive condition.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of custodial or facilities maintenance experience in a school, institutional, or commercial setting.
  • Operational Capabilities: Skilled in the safe operation and basic maintenance of commercial custodial machinery (floor scrubbers, extractors, buffers), motorized groundskeeping tools, light maintenance power tools, aerial/lift equipment, and district vehicles; ability to effectively utilize mobile communication devices to coordinate team tasks.
  • Environmental Health & Safety Compliance: Deep knowledge of federal and state facility regulations, including OR-OSHA, Haz Com (OAR 437), PPE standards, EPA AHERA (Asbestos) identification. Oregon school facility compliance requirements including Healthy and Safe Schools Plan (HASS), indoor air quality (IAQ) standards, and Oregon Department of Education facility regulations.
  • Technical & Computer

    Skills:

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, digital recordkeeping, and facility/work order management software to prioritize, track, and log maintenance activities. Knowledge of basic building operations software controls (security, lighting, HVAC).
  • Certifications & Licenses:
  • First Aid Certification and Bloodborne Pathogen training required upon hire.
  • Forklift and aerial/scissor lift equipment certifications preferred, or obtained as required by the district.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Coordinator Certificate required (or ability to obtain within one year of hire), including practical knowledge of Oregon IPM laws and school-specific pesticide notification regulations.
  • Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) Pesticide Applicator License required (or ability to obtain within one year of hire).
  • Asbestos Inspector Certificate (EPA AHERA) required (or ability to obtain within one year of hire), including a functional understanding of asbestos‑containing materials (ACM) identification, recordkeeping, and legal notification requirements under Oregon law.
