Bookkeeper

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and finance, with expertise in managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate bookkeeping practices. As a Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our financial data, supporting compliance with accounting standards, and facilitating smooth financial operations across various departments.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as Quick Books, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation to ensure consistency across all accounts.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently while adhering to company policies.
• Prepare journal entries, including debits and credits, to record financial activities accurately within the general ledger.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify the accuracy of asset, liability, and equity accounts.
• Assist with payroll processing by calculating wages, deductions, and tax filings in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Support budgeting activities by analyzing account data and preparing financial reports for management review.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards where applicable.
• Perform account analysis and account reconciliation tasks to identify discrepancies or errors promptly.
• Contribute to financial report writing by compiling data for internal reports or external audits as needed.
• Maintain proficiency in various financial software platforms such as Quick Books Online, Xero, Sage, and other accounting systems.

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within corporate or non-profit organizations.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries.
• Demonstrated expertise in using accounting software such as Quick Books (including Quick Books Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts related to governmental accounting, payroll processing, and tax compliance.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation with precision.
• Familiarity with governmental reporting requirements and non-profit accounting practices is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to handle high-volume data entry tasks such as 10 key typing with accuracy and efficiency.
• Excellent organizational skills combined with attention to detail necessary for maintaining accurate financial records.
• Prior experience supporting budgeting processes and preparing detailed financial reports is advantageous.
