A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MSR

As an entry-level member service representative, you are a customer service master who ensures our members only have positive experiences with our credit union. Always friendly and helpful, you spend your days answering our members' questions and assisting them with their transactions.

The Member Service Representative (MSR) will establish and nurture relationships with our valued members. A MSR handles member’s financial transactions with the utmost care and attention to detail while providing an exceptional member experience. An MSR’s priority is to seek and meet the financial needs of the Credit Union’s members. As a team player, you are eager to learn more about managing finances and you enjoy the opportunity to develop your financial skills and knowledge, drive enrollment in products, and take pride in providing high-quality customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS

FOR AN MSR
  • Meet and exceed Credit Union service standards by providing an excellent member experience and resolving member issues while complying with the Credit Union’s policies, procedures, and security protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN MSR
  • Being proficient in products and services offered by the Credit Union.
  • Have thorough understanding on how to educate members on consumer deposit products and consumer lending.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to grow membership and member relationships through a disciplined sales/advisory process, outbound calling, and sourcing referrals from current members.
  • Submit and process personal, car and VISA loans according to Lending’s compliance and regulations.
  • Adhere to all operational, risk management, regulatory, and security policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and maintain branch lobby, greet members, and properly refer member to the correct representative.
  • Manage incoming phone calls and properly process mail.
  • Handle transactions for members including check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, cashier’s checks, and opening and closing of accounts.
  • Reconcile cash drawers and complete daily tasks accurately.
  • Display respect and professionalism to all members and staff.
  • Demonstrate acumen in sales, member service, consumer lending, relationship management, communication and presentation.
  • Complete other duties as assigned per management.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED ABILITIES OF AN MSR
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Cash-handling experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, member-service experience, and time-management skills.
  • Strong dedication to accuracy and efficiency.
  • Capable of seeking and providing financial advice to further recommend products solutions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Banking Experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service, sales, and/or retail.
