The Engineering Department seeks an Engineer to conduct engineering plan reviews to include residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments, and implement engineering, transportation, storm water, and development plans in accordance with industry’s best and acceptable practices, as well as the Village codes and standards.

• Coordinate and communicate among county, state, and local governmental entities, permitting agencies, engineering consultants, contractors, and internal staff on the timely review, approval, and completion of new, improvement, and/or redevelopment projects.
• Track and monitor project bonds or letters of credit related to development projects.
• Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate pre‑construction meetings for engineering, transportation, storm water, and development or capital improvement projects.
• Identify and apply for grant opportunities.
• Prepare Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposals (RFP) documents for various transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Review engineering reports, letters, plans, sketches, and potential solutions prepared by consultants and developers, and prepare appropriate written responses in advance.
• Review and discuss work progress and scheduling with contractors, consultants, and team members and make adjustments as needed.
• Inspect various projects in the field to ensure design and engineering compliance.
• Identify issues or problems associated with projects or plans and provide clear, concise direction on how to resolve.
• Assist residents by responding to their questions and resolving complaints via email, phone call, or in‑person meetings.
• Propose cost‑saving techniques or ideas wherever possible.
• Review Engineer’s Opinion of Probable Cost (EOPC) documents submitted by developers for thoroughness and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain design and construction schedules and EOPC documents for various infrastructure projects.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Collaborate with various internal departments and exterior agencies on the development of future improvement projects.
• Provide recommendations to Department Directors, the Village Manager, and the Village Board on transportation and other engineering issues.
• Advise on the need for plans, studies, and policies; handle retainage of consultants.
• Coordinate the work of consultants as assigned or as required.
• Prepare and deliver verbal, written, and graphic presentations, and staff reports for committee and board meetings.
• Attend staff, committee, board, and other public meetings as necessary.
• Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to maintain professional skills.
• Assist the Engineering Department Director in management of projects, proposals, cost estimates, selection of consultants/contractors, and other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois preferred.
• 3–5 years of professional engineering and project management experience.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering, transportation, water, and storm water management and design, planning, and site development.
• Ability to prepare plans, reports, and maintain operational records.
• Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate information and make recommendations.
