Description

We are a growth-oriented divorce and family law firm seeking a high-level leader to oversee and elevate our legal team. This is not just a senior attorney position — it is a leadership role for someone who thrives on building systems, developing people, and holding a team accountable to high standards.

The ideal candidate understands the complexity of family law litigation but is equally energized by leading attorneys and staff, ensuring performance standards are met, improving workflows, and stepping into cases strategically when necessary.

You will serve as the operational leader of the legal department — driving results, strengthening accountability, and ensuring clients receive exceptional representation.

Compensation- $155,000 – $225,000 (Base + Bonus Potential) Base salary depending on experience, leadership background, and EOS familiarity.

Responsibilities Lead the Legal Team & Drive Accountability
  • Hold attorneys and staff accountable for hours, deadlines, and execution.
  • Own weekly performance tracking and department scoreboards.
  • Coach attorneys for stronger performance and higher standards.
  • Address issues directly and early—without drama or avoidance.
  • Improve consistency in file quality, preparation, and client service.
Build and Improve Legal Systems
  • Identify breakdowns in workflow and case handling.
  • Create, refine, and enforce SOPs and best practices.
  • Train the team on new systems and ensure adoption.
Manage a Select Caseload (Higher-Value Matters)
  • Carry fewer cases than other attorneys.
  • Personally handle/oversee higher-value or more complex matters.
  • Provide escalation support and strategy to attorneys on contested matters.
  • Ensure excellent preparation for hearings, trials, and key client meetings.
Get It Done
  • This role requires a strong work ethic and ownership.
  • You must be willing to work the hours necessary to meet deadlines and deliver excellent results—especially in trial/hearing seasons.
  • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process
  • Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action
  • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
  • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
Qualifications
  • Active Illinois law license (required).
  • 7+ years of family law litigation experience (divorce, custody, financial matters).
  • Strong courtroom and negotiation skills.
  • Prior leadership or team management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold others accountable professionally and constructively.
  • High level of organization and operational thinking.
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on legal execution.
  • Comfortable using case management and performance tracking systems.
  • Strong preference for candidates with EOS experience (Traction, Rocks, Scorecards, L10 meetings, accountability chart).

Compensation

$155,000 – $225,000 Base + Bonus Potential DOE
