SUMMARY
This position will perform supervisory janitorial work, including supervising, directing, and participating (as dictated by account) in the work of subordinate custodial personnel. (Per industry standards, approximately 4,500 – 5,000 sq ft will need to be cleaned within 1 hour – this will vary by location)

- Reports to the Building Representative for the component performance of all custodial work.
- Covers shifts and performs general custodian duties when there are staffing shortages.
- Delivers and stocks supplies.
- Conducts daily routine inspections as required and takes immediate corrective action as needed to fully comply with standards.
- Provides professional training to custodial staff on cleaning activities, including SDS of all products and hazardous substances in janitor closets or building storage areas.
- Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and work standards.
- Provides leadership and guidance to custodial staff by properly training them on the above responsibilities.
- Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the custodial staff.
- Makes recommendations to the manager for changes in supplies, equipment, or procedures to improve safety or reduce costs.
- Provides ongoing technical and chemical training to all janitorial staff.
- Investigates, documents, and reports all unusual occurrences to the manager.
- Ensures that all equipment is tested regularly.
- Maintains a good working relationship with the client, building occupants, and other departments.
- Reports to work on time and dressed in company uniform, including employee badge, black slip‑resistant safety shoes, and proper uniform attire for staff.
- In partnership with the manager, inspects building and grounds to ensure clean and safe conditions.
- Evaluates the need for minor equipment repairs and makes recommendations to the manager.
- Completes weekly inspections and reports safety hazards to the manager.
- Follows safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and other safety requirements (e.g., blood borne pathogens).
- Responsible for cleaning bio‑waste using these procedures and for training staff on infection control practices and hand washing techniques.
- Works a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ensures that custodial closets remain locked at all times and that keys are properly signed in/out and left at the job site.
- Ensures that at the end of the shift, equipment is left clean and ready for use, including cleaning materials.
- Ensures that high dusting with extension poles is fully completed and done safely.
- Completes additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of janitorial / cleaning experience.
- Must have knowledge of proper cleaning or polishing agents for various surfaces, including metals, woodwork floors, and floor coverings.
- Knowledge of safety ordinances and regulations.
- Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment; able to instruct others in their use.
- Ability to understand documents such as a scope of work and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and group situations to customers.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with 3 years of acceptable driving experience.
Pay rate: $16/hr
WEEKLY HOURSWeekly hours: 40 hours a week.
SCHEDULESchedule: Monday to Friday, 12 PM - 8:30 PM
