- Sweeps, dust mops, mops, scrubs, and waxes floors using appropriate cleaning and waxing equipment.
- Sweeps, cleans, and mops restrooms including floors, sinks, urinals, commodes, and mirrors; polishes hardware, refills soap and towel dispensers.
- Empties wastebaskets, cigarette burns, and trash receptacles.
- Cleans chalkboards, erasers, chalk troughs, and replenishes chalk.
- Closes windows, turns off lights, and locks assigned areas.
- Dusts furniture, window sills, and other area equipment.
- Washes windows, cleans and polishes drinking fountains, and other area equipment.
- Cleans cobwebs, mud, paper, and other debris from area adjacent to buildings; scrubs and hoses corridors and walkways.
- Cleans walls, ceilings, and light fixtures; requests needed supplies and materials from supervisor.
- Cleans air‑conditioning supply and return air grills.
- Assists in relocating furniture, books, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required minimum education:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Preferred:
Experience or working knowledge in a position with similar duties.
- Ability to read and follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of and ability to use cleaning fluids, chemicals, cleaning tools, and equipment such as scrubbing and waxing machines.
This job operates throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. The employee may be exposed to elements including wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may involve hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions and personal protective equipment. Noise levels are usually moderate and occasionally loud. Typical physical demands include remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, and lifting/moving objects weighing between 5–100 pounds.
Cognitive demands include discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision‑making. The College provides reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
