Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Equipment Repair Technician - Orlando (Your Bench, Your Queue)

Description

If you like fixing machines and hate being stuck in a back room where nobody sees your work, this is your bench.

You’ll be the in‑house repair technician at our Orlando showroom, diagnosing and repairing the commercial floor machines, vacuums, and cleaning equipment our customers depend on to run their businesses. When you fix a contractor’s scrubber, that contractor keeps their crew working tonight. Your work matters, and it’s out where people can see it.

ABOUT GEM SUPPLY

GEM Supply is a family‑owned janitorial and cleaning supply company that’s been taking care of customers since 1930. Our Orlando megastore is where cleaning contractors, schools, property managers, restaurants, and facility teams come to shop products, see equipment run, and get their machines serviced. We’re growing across Florida — Orlando, Tampa/Clearwater, Ocala, Jacksonville, and Miami — and we invest heavily in the people who make that growth happen.

At GEM Supply, we take pride in being a family‑owned company with deep roots in the communities we serve. Our team is built on people who show up, execute, and take care of customers the right way.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN
  • The bench. A customer brings in a scrubber that won’t run. You diagnose it, fix it, test it, and hand it back on the date you promised.
  • The queue. You set realistic promised dates, you hit them, and customers hear from you before they have to ask.
  • The records. Every job logged: customer, equipment, work performed, parts used, charges. Bench parts inventory stays stocked and accounted for.
  • The bench area. Safe, organized, presentable. Customers can see your shop, and it shows them how we work.
  • The floor when it’s busy. You’ll step out, greet customers, answer equipment questions, and help s is a customer‑facing role, not a warehouse job.

You’ll train alongside company leadership for your first months, then report to the Showroom Manager once the team is fully up and running.

COMPENSATION

Competitive pay based on experience. We’ll talk real numbers in the first conversation.

Full‑time, Monday through Friday. Your weekends are yours.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS (based on eligibility)
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with company contribution
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Life Improvement expense reimbursement programs
  • Ongoing professional development and training
GEM LIFE IMPROVEMENT RESOURCES

GEM offers a range of optional programs designed to support employees across financial, personal, and professional areas. These programs are subject to eligibility, participation, and company policy, and may evolve over time. Examples include:

  • Financial development support, including reimbursement‑based programs and advisor access
  • Personal growth resources such as counseling options and learning platforms
  • Education and leadership development opportunities
  • Fitness and wellness reimbursements
  • Volunteer and family support initiatives
  • Additional resources such as product discounts, benevolence participation, and charitable matching

If you can figure out why a machine doesn’t run instead of just swapping parts until it does, we want to meet you.

Requirements WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Hands‑on mechanical and electrical repair experience: motors, pumps, belts, batteries and chargers, switches, or small engines. Any background counts — equipment repair, appliance repair, automotive, HVAC, or serious hobbyist work you can demonstrate.
  • Real diagnostic ability. You can figure out why a machine doesn’t work, not just swap parts.
  • Organized work habits: multiple jobs in progress, each one logged, nothing lost.
  • A customer‑friendly manner. You’ll explain repairs to non‑technical customers and help on the sales floor.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and move heavy equipment safely.
BONUS POINTS
  • Experience repairing floor care or janitorial equipment (Tennant, Advance, Clarke, Karcher, Windsor, Pro Team, or similar)
  • Electrical troubleshooting on DC battery systems (12/24/36V) and 120V AC equipment
  • Retail or customer service experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
