Are you a hands-on, technically-skilled worker looking for a role in clean energy technology and the opportunity to grow in a developing organization? The role of the Transportation Electrification (TE) Contractor Specialist is to work both independently as well as with internal and vendor personnel to maximize the uptime of Duke Energy’s EV charging assets in the field. The TE Contractor Specialist is a field-based role that completes several site visits per day to triage, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace EV chargers both proactively and in response to outages.
ActivitiesEngage daily in all systems/applications to retrieve work for the day and coordinate with peers for scheduling to prevent double trips. When encountering EV driver, have an open personality for conversation to promote EV acceptance. Daily travel in state for EVSE repair; must also be willing to travel out of state for training and organizational meetings. Troubleshoot and work unsupervised on 120-480 volt charger systems.
Remote troubleshoot/reset when possible. Create repair tickets for work to be done by internal and vendor personnel. Create, update and properly close job tickets for completed activities, update asset numbers, retire old assets and similar.
Site Inspections & Maintenance:
Conduct routine physical inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic cleaning of EV charging stations across the Bay Area metro area. Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve issues on-site EV chargers from 120 to 480 volts Component Replacement:
Perform modular repairs, such as replacing damaged cables, holsters, or screens as directed by the engineering team. Reporting:
Accurately document all service visits, repairs, and escalated technical issues using our field management software. Respond to Commission Complaints, Driver inquiries, media inquiries, LAM questions or inquiries (ex. Orange County Convention Center)
Manage the execution of Customer Delivery work plan in accordance with the distribution construction & maintenance scope & method of payment while maintaining financial stewardship. Ensure the efficient utilization of contractor resources to meet the work plan. This position works to ensure customer and company needs are met while working with internal and external partners. Confirm that the contractor crews are managing and executing an assigned 2-week work schedule as detailed in the workflow process.
Accountable/responsible for validating that contractors are performing job readiness checks by working with appropriate contractor field leadership and crews. Document any anomalies in the work plan, and then actively managing this block of work while communicating with all stakeholders to correct or resolve issues impacting the work plan. Monitor progress of work orders assigned to resources under the control of this position.
Approve contractor invoices associated with CD annual capital spend using the current CD process.
