Job Summary:
Plans, schedules, and oversees the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of District facilities, equipment, and properties. Evaluates and identifies facility needs, recommends and implements repairs or improvements, and proactively troubleshoots maintenance issues to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Collaborates with internal departments to coordinate work priorities and partners with external vendors and contractors as needed to ensure quality, compliance, and cost-effective results.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs regular inspections of buildings and facilities to determine current and future maintenance or replacement needs.
- Develops a maintenance schedule for facilities, and update as necessary based on dynamic organizational needs.
- Performs a variety of basic repairs, replacement, and preventative maintenance on District equipment and property.
- Works with other district personnel to ascertain facility needs, repairs, improvements, and purchases.
- Safely operates a variety of handheld tools and power equipment to perform a variety of trouble shooting, maintenance, and repair duties including but not limited to: heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, groundskeeping, and painting to maintain District facilities.
- Obtain bids and work directly with contractors for various projects, as needed.
- Dismantle defective machinery or equipment and assists with the installation of new or repaired parts or equipment.
- Coordinates with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers to obtain technical information, proposals, and pricing, and arranges repairs.
- In a cost-effective manner, provide recommendations for outside vendors to perform repairs on items that cannot be repaired in-house.
- Transport, assemble, and/or repair furniture and equipment as needed.
- Maintains job tools and materials, and tracks inventory.
- Maintains purchase orders, work orders, maintenance reports, and records for routine and contractual projects.
- Responsible for the tracking and maintenance of warranty items.
- Operates within the facilities maintenance budget and makes recommendations for future needs related to facilities maintenance.
- Interacts with District employees, other public agencies, vendors, and the general public in a positive manner.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Maintenance concepts, repair methods, techniques, and materials.
- Basic landscaping maintenance.
- OSHA regulations and safety procedures related to maintenance activities and use of maintenance tools.
- Schedule and plan preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Work with minimal supervision, to accomplish facility maintenance tasks and objectives.
- Read blueprints for planning, troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair work.
- Establish positive working relationships.
- Use the English language to communicate both orally and in written format.
- Understand and comply with oral and written instructions, policies and procedures.
