Job Overview
Technical Maintenance Manager at the J.M. Smucker Company; responsible for leading maintenance personnel, driving equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence at the Orrville, Ohio facility.
Responsibilities- Lead maintenance personnel and set priorities for maintenance schedules.
- Coaching and developing Maintenance Coordinators and technicians, fostering technical acumen and a high‑performance culture.
- Apply Progressive Maintenance tools, rely on CMMS, and respond to failures with urgency.
- Train all levels to perform mechanical work and promote self‑reliance.
- Guide root‑cause analysis, loss elimination, and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Manage electronic reliability data and enhance data‑collection methods.
- Establish and track KPIs for safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with the Plant Engineer to develop and execute a 5‑year capital investment strategy.
- Lead improvement teams and implement Smucker Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Own safety key element and/or quality key element as required.
- Support modernization and reliability of the manufacturing facility.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Engineering degree preferred. - Minimum 10 years manufacturing operations experience (food or pharmaceutical manufacturing is a plus).
- Experience in maintenance work‑development, planning, and scheduling.
- Experience leading and coaching maintenance teams across functions.
- Demonstrated budget planning and management skills.
- Proficient with a CMMS;
Oracle eAM experience preferred. - Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, and develop solutions.
- Hands‑on mechanical aptitude and ability to teach others.
- Project‑management experience in costs, schedules, and resources.
- Disciplined, objective‑driven with priority setting and follow‑through.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Expected tenure of 3‑5 years, open to relocation for future opportunities.
