Groundskeeper

Job Requirements

Empowered to provide a positive impression to the guests of Chula Vista Resort. Groundskeepers will fulfill the related goals and objectives of the resort while displaying hospitality and professionalism at all times and taking pride in representing Chula Vista Resort.

• Gather and remove litter from resort property.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers.
• Water lawns, trees, and plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or water cans.
• Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
• Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
• Assist with landscaping projects.
• Shovel snow from walkways, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt for ice removal.
• Haul or spread topsoil, or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
• Assist with outdoor event set-up and tear-down.
• Assist with unloading freight and delivering shipments.
• Perform work as assigned on daily work orders.
• Report hours, wages, and supplies for billing purposes when applicable.
• Complete all necessary daily paperwork.
• Assist any and all departments with jobs that are deemed necessary and a priority across the resort.
• Maintain compliance with all legal requirements, codes, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
• Work with supervisors to ensure work orders are completed in a timely fashion.
• Safeguard and protect all company assets in your care.
• Safeguard the confidentiality of customer, company, and employee information.
• Maintain a cooperative working relationship with guests and the entire staff.
• Recognize areas of the resort that need attention and report them to your supervisor daily.
• Complete all obligations; do what has been committed.
• Maintain a well‑groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and the situation.
• Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by ensuring you and subordinates provide prompt, friendly, and quality service.
• Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by proper use of language with guests and co‑workers in person and on the radio.
• Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having complete knowledge of areas of your operation.
• Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having clean, sanitary, and organized work areas.
• Be required to be in uniform at all times.
• Attend staff training seminars as necessary.

• Preferred: 1 year of grounds experience.
• Skill‑based competencies required to perform job functions, operate equipment, and adhere to safety practices.
• Must be able to work under limited supervision and in outdoor environments with adverse or inclement weather.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  good physical condition; able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs; walking and standing for extended periods.
• Mental Requirements: routine math calculations; able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, to give instructions, relay information, and maintain effective interchange with customers, vendors, and staff.
