Facility Operations Assistant 1 - Custodial
The mission of Facilities Services is to operate, maintain and renew campus facilities to support the mission of the campus, using quality materials and workmanship to ensure a safe, reliable, attractive, and efficient physical environment. The Facility Services Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites reliable and dedicated individuals to join our team as Facility Operations Assistant
1. This is a continuous recruitment effort for temporary and permanent positions as they become available. A Facility Operations Assistant 1 performs a variety of relatively unskilled cleaning, maintenance, repair, and related activities under supervision. Facility Operations Assistants also perform a variety of routine manual tasks requiring light, medium, and heavy physical effort and other duties as assigned. Various shifts are available.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. Salary: $15.26/hour in accordance with the CSEA Operational Services Unit Agreement. Date of appointment:

Operational Needs:
Under direction, use hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment, measuring, and testing instruments appropriate for the craft area to which assigned. Be physically able to perform the duties of the job. Record of dependability. Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions. Use of web and/or desktop-based Maintenance work order systems Must possess a valid New York State driver's license.
Job duties include cleaning buildings and facilities, performing routine building maintenance tasks, providing information to visitors, inspecting and patrolling areas, performing general grounds maintenance tasks, setting up chairs, podiums, and related equipment for conferences, assisting higher-level staff in performing routine and unskilled work, operating self-propelled and motorized equipment, assisting in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment and other machinery, collecting fees and tickets for parking and special events, directing patrons to designated parking areas, leading volunteers, students, and inmates assigned to work crews, moving heavy supplies, furniture, and equipment, setting up and removing furniture, partitions, and equipment for office moves, conferences, meetings, and special events, delivering forms and supplies to various offices, assisting in the receiving and shipping of various office materials, performing office-related activities such as filing, alphabetizing, photocopying, sorting and delivering mail, inventorying and storing records or supplies on shelves, bins and/or on the floor.
Minimum qualifications:
There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
