General Labor​/Parks Maintenance

Our client, in the public service sector, is seeking a General Labor/Parks Maintenance to join their team. As a General Labor/Parks Maintenance, you will be part of the Parks and Recreation Department supporting community development and beautification initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive attitude which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: General Labor/Parks Maintenance

Location: Ottumwa, IA

Pay Range: $15

Shift: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday

What's the Job?

• Assist in maintenance of parks and public spaces, including mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, and mulching flower beds
• Perform custodial duties and maintain cleanliness of buildings, shelters, restrooms, and other facilities
• Assist with minor repairs and painting of City buildings and equipment
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of powered grounds equipment and basic maintenance tools
• Detect potential hazards and follow safe working practices

What's Needed?

• No prior experience required; training provided
• Knowledge of safe working practices and relevant equipment
• Ability to operate and drive a variety of equipment and vehicles
• Basic understanding of routine maintenance such as checking oil and greasing equipment
• Criminal background check (County - 7 years, National Sex Offender Registry, Drivers Record Check)
