Job Summary:

The Building, Grounds and Vehicle Supervisor oversees the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of the organization's facilities, surrounding grounds, and vehicles. This role involves supervising maintenance staff, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring that all building systems and vehicles operate efficiently and safely. The supervisor is also responsible for developing maintenance schedules, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence with safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervise and train building, grounds, and vehicle maintenance staff.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor work to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and participate in the hiring process of team members.
  • Oversee routine and preventive maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Ensure the upkeep of outdoor areas, including landscaping, sidewalks, parking areas, and snow removal.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations for development and implementation of safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for staff and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building operations and environmental standards.
  • Maintain records of inspections, permits, and compliance activities.
  • Assist in developing and managing the budget for building, grounds and vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment; order materials as needed.
  • Prepare cost estimates for maintenance projects and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for all building systems, grounds, and vehicles.
  • Plan and oversee special projects, such as renovations or new installations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of the organization's vehicle fleet, including scheduling regular maintenance, coordinating repairs, and ensuring vehicles are safe and operational.
  • Maintain records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards for vehicle operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and exposure to weather elements.
  • Will require responding to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
  • Exposure to machinery, tools, and potentially hazardous materials; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and safety standards.
  • Assess whether the vehicle requires repairs and determine if the necessary repairs can be handled internally or if they should be outsourced to an external vendor.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Minimum age: 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in building maintenance or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building / grounds and / or vehicle maintenance, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • Ability to perform physical activities, such as lifting (up to 60 pounds), bending, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
  • Expressed desire to work with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Physical ability to conduct training involving manual labor.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Final hiring is pending an OSBI background check, a clean driving record, a Community Services Registry check, and pre-employment screening.
