Overview

The Field Service Technician provides field technical support for Ingersoll Rand products, focusing on customer service, responsiveness, and successful 24/7 technical service delivery. The role develops collaborative relationships with internal teams and serves as the primary source of field service knowledge, delivering solutions that align with the company’s services and products. Incentive plans are paid out annually.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support during repair and/or installation at customer sites, ensuring standards are met and equipment integrity is maintained.
  • Follow safe work practices, report all safety incidents and near misses promptly, and maintain a goal of zero lost‑time incidents.
  • Improve customer responsiveness by making sales calls, performing technical walk‑downs, and providing differentiated solutions during proposals and capabilities discussions.
  • Complete required reports—Service Reports, Customer Call Reports, Expense Reports, and Time Sheets—on time to support accurate invoicing and follow‑up.
  • Suggest process and procedural improvements to reduce response time and increase data accuracy.
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines and procedures to maintain service standards.
  • Maintain proficiency in vibration analysis and laser alignment equipment for balancing and testing.
  • Generate sales leads from customers, collect CRM data, and inform sales of additional opportunities to grow Ingersoll Rand’s installed base.
Requirements
  • Three or more years of relevant technical background (millwright, maintenance, engineering, field service, or equivalent).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required; capable of passing a motor vehicle background check, as the role includes an assigned vehicle.

Preferences
  • Technical schooling or coursework toward a technical degree.
  • Experience in progressively responsible positions with leadership exposure.
  • Knowledge of specifying replacement parts for highly engineered equipment.
  • Industrial sales or technical selling experience.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting vibration, system, and aerodynamic issues in equipment.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Up to 80% travel, including potential international travel.
Pay Range

$65,000k–$85,000k. The range reflects candidate skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and location.
