Position: NOW Housekeeping Aide

Job Summary

Cleans and sanitizes following established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout Memorial Healthcare. Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms, MA stations, administrative offices, waiting areas, physician offices, public restrooms, pool, locker rooms, and gym. Tasks involve using various cleaning chemicals and disinfectants, wiping equipment and beds, cleaning furniture, dusting, wet mopping floors, and vacuuming carpets. Also responsible for emptying trash, replenishing paper products, collecting dirty laundry, and ensuring all cleaning tasks are performed consistently to support a patient- and family‑centered care environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cleaning assigned areas.
  • Dust, mop, and vacuum in accordance with department procedures.
  • Empties, cleans, and sanitizes all waste receptacles daily; dirty utility receptacles monthly or as needed.
  • Cleans water fountains daily and as needed.
  • Damp wipes furniture.
  • Cleans windows, window sills, screens, and casings.
  • Cleans doors, door frames, and hinges.
  • Spot washes walls when needed.
  • Cleans and polishes mirrors.
  • Cleans restrooms, including tiles, chrome fixtures, mirrors, and vents.
  • Replenishes all supplies such as paper towels, soap, tissues, and equipment.
  • Cleans patient rooms and performs all cleaning tasks listed above.
  • Thoroughly washes and sanitizes each patient room.
  • Rechecks walls, ceilings, and grids for total washings.
  • Checks condition of floor and notifies Department Head/Supervisor if floor needs to be redone.
  • Maintains full complement of supplies in carts and housekeeping closets; carts and closets must be fully stocked at the end of each shift.
  • Prepares own cleaning solutions as needed, following directions accurately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and support for hospital mission, vision, values, standards, policies, procedures, and the code of ethical behavior.

Job Specifications Education
  • High School graduate or G.E.D. required.
Experience
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred; on‑the‑job training provided.
Essential Physical Abilities / Motor Skills
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crouching, walking, climbing stairs, and bending; lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. (20–100 lbs. with push/pull).
  • Vision:
    Near acuity at 20 inches or less; midrange acuity at distances from over 20 inches to less than 20 feet.
  • Motor coordination:
    Regular hand and finger movement, tool use, and independent travel throughout the facility.
  • Speaking/Hearing:
    Ability to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
Essential Technical Abilities
  • Proficiency using modern office, computer, and telephone equipment.
  • Ability to clean ceilings, walls, floors, and windows.
Essential Mental Abilities
  • Adapt and maintain focus in fast‑paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
  • Read and interpret a variety of documents, including policies and regulations.
