Job Title: Building and Grounds Assistant (Custodial Services)

Department: Building & Special Services Custodial Worker

Type: Regular (Hourly)

Hourly Rate: $15.85

Shift: First Shift (Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm, with occasional weekend rotation during the academic year)

Description: Performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining the University’s buildings, facilities, and grounds.

• Picks up trash and/or litter from University buildings and grounds; empties trash receptacles.
• May sweep and mop rooms and hallways; may dust and perform general cleaning of rooms; may clean windows.
• May vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; may clean and sanitize restrooms.
• May mow, trim, and rake grounds; may remove shrubs and trees.
• May sow grass and renovate turf areas; may apply herbicides to lawn.
• May pick up and/or deliver equipment and supplies.
• May perform cleaning/washing duties in dining hall dishroom or pot and pan area.

• High school diploma or GED (no experience required).
• Ability to successfully pass a post‑offer physical examination.
• Driver’s license may be required.
• Valid background check.

• Knowledge of cleaning equipment/materials or lawn equipment/materials.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
