Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for maintaining Goggin Ice Center facilities and equipment by performing basic operations and facility support.
- Perform general maintenance repairs on facility components.
- Perform general ice making and maintenance tasks by operating ice resurfacer and other related equipment.
- Monitor activities of the facility to ensure the smooth flow of operations and that all systems are fully functional.
- Assist in event setup and teardown.
- Hours for this position are typically Sunday‑Thursday 5 p‑1 a with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.
- Perform basic ice making and maintenance tasks.
- Perform skate sharpening tasks.
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Perform basic and specialized custodial tasks.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
- Serve as an informal resource to student staff.
- Assist in setup for special events.
- Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver's license.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Ability to complete ongoing Certified Ice Technician training.
- Ability to complete ongoing Certified Pool Operator training.
- Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Somewhat disagreeable working conditions.
- Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
- Pre‑employment drug testing may be required for this position.
- On‑the‑job ice maintenance and equipment operation training provided.
