Job Summary: Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings during the second shift (Mon‑Thursday).
Essential Duties- Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
- Performs repair work; replaces tile; repairs doors and windows; unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures; repairs steam valves; replaces motors and pumps on heating/air conditioning equipment; repairs electric switches and receptacles.
- Serves as informational resource to staff.
- Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
- Clears and maintains tools and equipment.
- May assist in setting up stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting system for special events.
- Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires driver’s license.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair.
- Ability to read schematics.
