Job Description Summary

Responsible for maintaining Goggin Ice Center facilities and equipment by performing basic operations and facility support. Hours for this position are typically Tues
- Sat, second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.

Job Description Essential Duties
  • Performs general maintenance repairs on facility components.
  • Performs general ice making and maintenance tasks by operation of ice resurfacer and other related equipment.
  • Monitors activities of the facility to ensure the smooth flow of operations and that all systems are fully functional.
  • Assist in event setup and teardown.

Hours for this position are typically Tues
- Sat second shift with reasonable flexibility in support of facility events.

Duties/Physical Demands

Performs basic ice making and maintenance tasks. Performs skate sharpening tasks. Performs basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs. Perform basic and specialized custodial tasks. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment. Serves as an informal resource to student staff. Assist in setup for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical repair.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Ability to complete on-going Certified Ice Technician training.
  • Ability to complete on-going Certified Pool Operator training.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Some exposure to several unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
