The City of Oxnard's Public Works Department, Facilities Division is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician with strong technical and customer service skills to be part of the team.
What You’ll Do:- Performs basic and routine maintenance and repair work in City buildings and related facilities.
- Under supervision assists in basic maintenance carpentry tasks, plumbing repair tasks, painting tasks, and electrical repair work.
- Assists in the installation and repair of locksets.
- Performs the assembly and installation of office furniture.
- May be required to dig post holes, ditches, and trenches.
- May be required to assist in repairing fences, walls, and related appurtenances.
- Cleans restrooms, fountains, and public facilities.
- Assists in repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters and walkways.

Maintenance Technician, Senior
Supervision Exercised / Supervision Received: Incumbents may serve as lead workers, assigning work and monitoring work completion. Receives general supervision on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This classification is distinguished from the Maintenance Technician in that it performs skilled maintenance and may serve in a lead capacity and/or provide training to others.
The normal work week is Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and alternating Fridays 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to a shift that is outside the standard work hours. In addition, this position may be required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs.
Employees may be required to work rotational stand‑by assignments outside of normal working hours and report to work on a callback basis, as needed, within a designated response time. Standby assignments are at the discretion of the Division Head.

- Performs skilled general maintenance and operations activities in support of City departments or maintenance function; selects proper maintenance tools and equipment for assignment; performs work following established safety policies and procedures and applicable codes and regulations. May serve as lead worker by assigning work and monitoring work completion.
- Maintains assigned equipment and tools; performs general inspections to ensure safe operating conditions; establishes priorities; performs repairs and/or maintenance work; cleans equipment, site area or grounds and performs preventative maintenance.
- Operates assigned equipment; plans routes, work activities and sets up work areas for safety and operational efficiency; may set up traffic control measures.
- Responds to customer inquiries and concerns; maintains activity logs, records, work orders and related reports.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
The following are the minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification:
Education:- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of technical maintenance experience related to assignment
Certifications:
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing
