Maintenance Worker, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Duties
- Mow grass, lay sod, weed flowerbeds, trim and edge walkways and lawns. Prune shrubs and trees; apply fertilizer, water plants, clean out drainage ditches, shovel snow from walks and driveways.
- Load and unload conveyances; move materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks or dollies; stack and arrange supplies for storage; collect refuse and recyclable materials.
- Dig, fill and tamp soil and gravel in earth excavations; level ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake.
- Clean rugs and drapes. Clean, wax and polish floors using heavy industrial-powered equipment. Adjust, clean, oil and change attachments on machines. Wash and replace room fixtures using ladders and scaffolds. Use chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Maintain stock of cleaning materials and implements used. Notify supervisor when additional materials are needed.
- Move heavy items of furniture and office equipment as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must attend Team Member Orientation (TMO) within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Must be available for Community Events that the Community Recreation Division supports:
Oktoberfest, Freedom Fest, SWGC Pro Am Tournament, Thanksgiving Feast, Children’s Fest, and Winterfest. - Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. Required to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for lengthy periods of time.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds with assistance.
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
- Three (3) month of laboring experience required.
- Must have the ability to use, control and clean tools and power equipment used, and the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps without constant supervision of each task assigned.
Manual skill to lift and move moderately heavy objects. Skill and knowledge to safely operate simple power equipment and hand tools (lawn mowers, leaf blowers, edges and trimmers, scrubbers and buffers, steam cleaners and vacuums). A basic knowledge of routine maintenance procedures for power equipment is required.
ResponsibilityRoutine work is completed independently following proper safety procedures. Specific instructions are provided with new assignments. Completed work is reviewed and compliance with instructions and established practices is monitored. Responsibilities include checking and performing simple maintenance on equipment; maintenance repairs that require disassembly or realignment are reported to the supervisor.
