Position Summary

Quest Academy is seeking an innovative, student‑centered, self‑motivated Middle School Language Arts & Lower School Library Media Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators serving gifted learners. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to academic excellence, possess strong content knowledge in Language Arts/Social Studies and Library Media, and bring enthusiasm for building meaningful relationships with students. This role centers on delivering high level Language Arts to Middle School students along with daily library media to Lower School students.

A strong background in teaching Language Arts/Social Studies is essential.

This position will divide its time between teaching combined Middle School Language Arts/Social Studies (LASS) and Lower School Library Media. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside Quest’s vibrant community of educators while being responsible for curriculum and lesson development. The position will teach Language Arts Social Studies to middle school students in a daily, year‑long curriculum and have the opportunity to teach media‑related skills on a weekly basis to Pre‑school through 4th grade students.

The position is responsible for managing and maintaining the school library.

  • Design & deliver engaging, rigorous Middle School Language Arts/Social Studies lessons that foster deep conceptual understanding and real‑world application.
  • Design & deliver engaging Lower School Library Media activities to Preschool‑4th grade students.
  • Cultivate a dynamic classroom environment that stimulates academic growth, intellectual curiosity, and reinforces learning goals of both the collective class and the individual students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and interests of gifted students.
  • Foster compassionate engagement and enthusiasm for the subject that supports students’ personal development and instills trust between students and teachers.
  • Utilize technology in a meaningful way to foster Language Arts, Social Studies, and Library Media growth, application, and understanding within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with faculty across departments to incorporate cross‑curricular learning.
  • Maintain a safe, student‑focused classroom that promotes student well‑being, supports learning objectives, and reflects the curriculum as it changes throughout the school year.
  • Build strong relationships with students and parents, maintaining open, respectful communication and timely responsiveness to concerns.
  • Support twice‑exceptional learners and adhere to Individualized Student Learning Plans.
  • Participate in overnight class trips, weekly staff meetings, and other school events (open houses, graduation) and participate as a member of the Middle School Team and the Lower School Specials Team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Education, English, Social Studies, Library Studies, or other related field
  • Illinois teaching certification is preferred
  • Experience with advanced coursework and/or gifted learners is preferred
