Teacher Assistant
District 211 is seeking candidates for teacher assistants in multiple areas and schools. Teacher assistants play a vital role in the educational team, supporting teachers and students to ensure a positive, productive learning environment. This position involves working alongside professional colleagues to enhance classroom instruction and provide individualized or small-group support for students, including English language learners and those with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in individual, small-group, or large-group instruction under teacher supervision.
- Implement accommodations and supports specified in students' IEPs.
- Facilitate classroom routines and provide additional support to facilitate instruction and learning, including organizing materials.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and staff to support learning objectives.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.
Qualifications:
- Possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate licensure in Illinois to serve as a paraprofessional.
- Prior experience in an educational or child care setting is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow teacher instructions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to complete required licensure and training, including Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
- Ability to meet physical requirements, such as assisting with mobility needs when necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage based with a starting rate on the Teacher Assistant Salary Schedule at Step 0 with no experience as a teacher or paraprofessional or Step 1 with one or more years of experience as a teacher or paraprofessional. Comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
