Hours
  • 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Mon‑Fri) On Site – Palatine, IL
Compensation

The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $96,514‑$. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by performance, knowledge, job‑related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. The role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Improvement Projects:
    Lead and execute projects that address manufacturing quality issues and optimize processes.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making:
    Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, develop solutions, and track progress.
  • Problem Solving Support:
    Support major problem‑solving efforts related to production quality, acting as a key contributor and knowledge source for the functions.
  • Customer Escape Containment:
    Contribute to customer escape containment and resolution activities by analyzing defects, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve manufacturing quality.
  • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction:
    Support efforts to reduce COPQ, participate in production stop‑and‑stop‑ship events, assist with root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective measures to enhance quality performance.
  • Documentation Review:
    Review prints and acceptance criteria for accuracy, assisting with defect identification, disposition, and deviation processes to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards.
  • Process Optimization:
    Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce defects.
  • Quality Support &

    Collaboration:

    Provide quality support for operations, working closely with production teams to address quality‑related issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Metrics & Feedback Utilization:
    Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, driving data‑driven decision‑making across the company.
  • Team Support:
    Support other quality engineers in their work, setting standards and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team.
  • Industry Trends & Innovation:
    Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company’s approach to quality engineering.
  • Compliance:
    Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
Additional Functions
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend in‑person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a similar technical field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on manufacturing quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or higher.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of statistical analysis/SPC.
  • Proven track record of supporting large‑scale quality improvement projects and implementing effective process improvements.
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrated experience in process analytics with a broad knowledge of quality tools and industry metrics.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Good project management skills, able to successfully lead small project teams through challenges.
